This is a four (4) week course for dogs aged 8 – 16 weeks.

What is covered:

• Appropriate socialisation and play with other dogs including discussion and observation of body language
• Handling and socialisation with people
• Introduction to novel surfaces, objects and sights
• Home alone training
• Dog bowl etiquette to prevent resource guarding
• Problem solving and advice including toilet training, nipping, jumping up, barking
• Introduction to walking nicely by your side
• Sit and drop positions

This is a six (6) week course for dogs aged 4 – 8 months.

What is covered:

• Appropriate socialisation for adolescent dogs with dogs and people
• Settling on a mat or bed
• Foundation training for walking nicely by your side on lead
• Sit and drop positions
• Stay / wait
• Coming when called
• Problem solving and advice for adolescent dogs

The first week of this course is a “dog free” information session. In this session, we introduce you to training techniques and give you exercises to work on at home before bringing your dog to class in week 2.

The Basic Training course is an eight (8) week course suited to dogs from 6 months.

What is covered:

• Settle on a mat
• Walking nicely on lead even with distractions
• Positions – sit, drop, stand
• Stay / wait
• Coming when called even around other dogs
• Appropriate socialisation with other dogs and people
• Polite greetings with dogs and people
• Tricks for fun and safety
• General problem solving for chewing, nipping / mouthing, jumping up, barking, home alone issues

This is an eight (8) week course with the first week being “dog free”. During the “dog free” information session, we introduce the course and discuss appropriate use of food rewards in training, using appropriate training equipment, preparing your dog for coming into a group class including exercises to practise at home before the first class with the dog.

Homework exercises and notes are provided to assist handlers with their training between classes.

This is an intermediate level class for graduates of our Foundation course. The Reliability and Stability class is a fun, social class that tests and builds on the basic skills covered in the Foundation course and prepares dog and handler teams for off lead work. The Reliability and Stability class also introduces scent games, team games to develop foundation skills, body targeting, tricks, and obstacle courses.
